Winter Clothing Drive Update

A message regarding the Winter Clothing Drive:

Is it Spring yet? Winter has felt like it has been carrying on forever this year and with this long winter and warm weather approaching we wanted to provide a delayed but final update on our schools’ winter clothing drive that took place before Christmas.

St. Elizabeth Eagles, YOU donated hundreds of items!!!!  They ranged from kids to adult coats, snow pants, boots, hats, gloves and more! This meant that we have been able to keep giving all through this winter season, keeping many people warm, including our very last donation this past week.

We were able to provide donations to:

  • Our St. Elizabeth School Community
  • A fellow school within the WCDSB with families in need.
  • Cambridge Shelter Corp (The Bridges) A homeless shelter
  • The Unsheltered Drop In (150 Main St. Region of Waterloo), which hosts a range of community services that supports individuals in homelessness or at risk of
  • Monica House Cambridge, supporting pregnant and parenting youth and children.

To say that we are thankful to all of you for the support is an understatement. As a school community, you should be so proud of yourselves, in the numerous ways you have helped your friends and neighbors this year.

Way to go Eagles!

See you next year,

Bunny News!

Good Morning St. Elizabeth Families,

Your children may come home today talking about some excitement in the kindergarten yard. This morning at 8:30 a.m.  a bunny rabbit  was running around in the Daycare and Kindergarten schoolyards. It appeared to be injured or sick, and it refused to leave the playground.  Animal Control was contacted, and our school staff were able to capture and confine the bunny until they arrived. Animal control stated that they do not believe the bunny is rabid and that it is not behaving in that manner. Good news … the bunny is headed to a rehabilitation centre.

St. Elizabeth’s Water Protection Fundraiser Monday March 27th – Wednesday March 29th

Dear Eagles Families,

This week we celebrated World Water Day and have been learning about the importance of protecting and conserving our water resources. In Canada, many Indigenous communities are dealing with inadequate access to safe and clean drinking water. Next week, the students will have an opportunity to raise money for the All Nations Grand River Water Walk and Water First by participating in an exciting fundraiser.

The All Nations Grand River Water Walk is based on Anishinaabe ceremonial water teachings. The walk will take place in September 2023 and it honours the water and connects all peoples to creation.

Water First is a non-profit charitable organization that partners with Indigenous communities to help resolve local water challenges through education, training and meaningful collaboration.

From Monday March 27th to Wednesday March 29th, students can bring in money for a chance to guess the number of pompoms that we’ve used to fill a water jug. Each guess costs $1. The closest guess in each division will win a reusable water bottle and a bubble wand. The grand prize, for the closest guess in the whole school, is 2 passes to Bingemans Big Splash Water park, generously donated by the park itself.

We appreciate your donations and support,

St. Elizabeth Water Protectors & The Student Leadership Team

St. Elizabeth Talent Show Auditions

St. Elizabeth School is bringing back our annual Talent Show starring our very own students!

If your child has a special talent they would like to showcase, please fill out the following form to register them for an audition. Once all applications are received by the deadline (April 5th) an audition will be scheduled for your child that will take place during the school day. You will receive notification of the date and time of their audition before we break for the Easter weekend. If your child misses their audition due to illness or an appointment, we will do our best to reschedule a new time. Stay tuned for more information about the date of the show (sometime in early May). Please note that if your child is selected to participate in the show, there will not be any practice sessions provided at school (only an audition, one dress rehearsal after school, then the final show during school hours). Any questions can be forwarded to Mrs. Evans or Mrs. Gorman. Thank-you.
