Track and Field Information for May 15th (grades 4-8) Parent Letter
Parent Letter Track and Field Information
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Students from grades 4 to 8 will be participating in the St. Elizabeth School Track Meet on Monday, May 15, at St. Benedict High School. The event will run from approximately 9:45 am to 1:30 pm. Students must have a completed Sports and Recreation Consent and Transportation form to compete in the Track Meet. This is a long, but exciting day for the students.
To ensure all the athletes are prepared and ready to compete they require a few items. Please ensure your child brings the following items to school on May 30:
- Appropriate running shoes
- Appropriate clothing (Dress for the weather – clothing can be layered. The meet will take place if there is a slight rain)
- Wear/bring a coat (it can be cold and windy)
- Bring a blanket to sit on
- A healthy lunch and snacks (sugary snacks and drinks should be avoided)
- Lots of water (at least 1L)
- Sunscreen
- A hat to keep the sun off.
- An umbrella for rain or sun.
- Books, cards, and portable games that will fit in a backpack (no electronic games please. We will not be responsible for their loss).
This is a list of things the students should not bring:
-
- Electronics or phones (This is a school day so students will not be allowed to use their phones during the Track Meet. Staff will remove the phones for the day if they are out)
- Tents
- Junk food or food that may spoil in the heat.
- Unnecessary valuables (jewellery, watches, etc.)
This is a fun event and an opportunity for students to become familiar with Track and Field. Parents are encouraged to volunteer for the day, or part of the day, to support our school community. If you are able to volunteer, please contact your child’s classroom teacher prior to Friday, April 29.
If you have any questions related to this event, please contact the school office.
