Educational Assistants/ Child and Youth Care Workers Appreciation Day

The staff and students at St. Elizabeth School would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our Educational Assistants and Child and Youth Care Workers on “EA and CYCW Appreciation Day!”  A good Educational Assistant and Child & Youth Care Worker must be friendly in nature, patient, and sensitive towards the needs of children they support. It is with your support, your dedication to our students, and your commitment to the success of each child, that helps our students and school be successful.  The growth that we see in our students is not measured each day, but each year, and when we reflect on our students who need your support most, the growth we see across their school careers is amazing – and it is because of you!  THANK YOU for all that you do to make our schools safe places where our students have an opportunity to learn, grow, feel valued, achieve their full potential, and for always being that much needed support for all of us as a staff!  It truly takes a special person to do what you do and we all know that without you…….we just couldn’t do it!

Math Learning -Parent survey

Dear Families,

Schools offer a variety of opportunities for parents to learn more about how to support their children: for example, events related to mathematics may be held at the school (e.g., family math nights); teachers may provide newsletters or communicate with parents through apps or social media; and school or board websites may provide helpful tips about how parents can engage in their child’s mathematics learning outside of school and may even provide links where they can learn more or enjoy math activities together.

The following brief survey will assist our school district in gathering data about how parents/families feel in terms of being informed about what their children are learning in math, how parents/families feel about supporting their children’s learning in math, and about parental access to math learning resources at home.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and participation.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the collection of this information please contact K-12 Mathematics Coordinator, Board Math Lead, Petra LeDuc at petra.leduc@wcdsb.ca , 519-578-3660

Cross Country Run June 4th – Preparations

In preparation for our Cross Country Run on June 4th:

  • Bring plenty of food and water for proper nutrition and hydration. (Students will need more water and food than usual.)
  • It is important to leave the park the way we found it therefore consider bringing a litterless lunch.
  • Appropriate clothing and shoes for all potential weather. You might want to consider bringing a pair of pants or joggers with shorts underneath. There are tics and poison ivy found at Shades Mill.
  • Consider bringing sunscreen, a repellant that contains DEET or Icaridin and a hat and blankets/towels can be used while sitting
  • An ice pack to help keep cool could be beneficial.
  • Seated activities (reading, drawing, cards, small board games, hangman, tic-tac-toe etc.) and/or physical activities (hacky sack) can be used during downtime.
  • Do not bring devices of any kind to the track meet. Emergency phones are available for contact with parents if needed.
  • School day policies apply to this off-site activity.
  • There will be no face painting.

We will be leaving St. Elizabeth’s after morning announcements and leaving Shades Mill at approximately 1:45. All students are expected to be traveling with the team on the bus to and from the event. Should you wish to come out and cheer for the team, there will be a fee of $3.50 that you will need to pay as you enter the conservation area. Here is the schedule of the races, if you would like to come to Shades Mill to watch any of the races. These are only approximate times.
