St. Elizabeth Dance-a-thon Fundraiser

Our major fundraiser this year is our Halloween dance-a-thon, on October 31st. Students are encouraged to bring in their pledges as soon as possible, and by Thursday, October 25th. We are also asking for donations of small prizes for our raffle draw. Each student in the school will be given a draw ticket, and an extra ticket will be issued for each $10 raised, and each prize donated. please send all cash, pledge forms and prizes to the office. One lucky student could even win lunch with the principal for him/herself plus a friend!

Students have the opportunity to raise funds for the school while having a lot of fun!

ECO Team News: Waste Reduction Week October 15th-19th

Next week is National Waste Reduction Week and the ECO Team is ready!

Fall is a great time of year to purge gently used clothing. In our team’s bid to re-purpose goods we are asking all families to send any gently used clothing during this week. We will donate these items to St. Andrew’s Church for those in need.

Our school has also pledged to reduce food waste. On Friday October 19th, we are holding a school wide litter-less lunch. Here are some tips to ensure lunches are litter-free.

WASTE-FREE LUNCH TIPS

-Pack lunches with healthy foods to minimize the packaging used in processed food

-Only pack as much food as your child will eat

-Use a reusable lunch bag/box and refillable bottle for drinks

-If you choose to use a single-serving container, please make sure it is recyclable

-Put sandwiches, muffins, etc. in reusable containers, instead of plastic bags

WE Scare Hunger

This year the WE Team would like to invite you to participate in a different kind of food drive. On October 22nd, any student or staff can bring in a decorated pumpkin for display in the atrium. For the rest of the week, students will be able to vote for their favourite pumpkin using non-perishable food items. The WE team will count how many food items each pumpkin earns and announce the winners on the following Monday. You are allowed to decorate and/or carve your pumpkin; feel free to make it as creative or spooky as you would like. Categories include: scariest, funniest, weirdest, coolest, and the most creative pumpkins. Ribbons and bragging rights are on the line!  Let’s SCARE HUNGER!!!

In order to vote, students have to bring in a non-perishable food item between October 22 and October 25. For every food item, you will get one vote. Simply put the food into the box with the label that matches your favourite pumpkin. If you bring in 10 items, you will have the opportunity to vote 10 times!  Once you vote and put your item into a box it cannot be moved.

Date to drop off labelled pumpkins: Monday October 22nd, before school (8:30-9:10)
Voting: October 22nd to October 25th
