What happens when the weather is inclement?

Previously, when buses were cancelled but the roads were still passable, schools remained open. This will no longer be the case. New this year, when buses are cancelled, schools will be closed and students will have a remote learning day. Teachers will post work on Google Classroom by 10:00 am and students will work in their own time throughout the day. This will keep everyone safe and allow all students access to learning.

Bus cancellations and school closures are announced on local media and you are encouraged to check https://www.wcdsb.ca/delays-cancellations/

We will also send out announcements via Twitter and Newswire.

Grade 7 Confirmation

There a fewer students than expected registered for Confirmation.  Online registration with the Parish will be disabled in the next day or so.  Parents will have to contact the Parish directly if they missed the registration period. Please contact the Parish urgently if you missed the opportunity and wish to register your child.

Further information and resources will be provided following Christmas, including Confirmation dates for May 2021.

Some Quick Reminders

Please remember that Monday, November 23 is a PA day. There will be no school and no before/after daycare on that date.

We ask all staff and students to wear pink tomorrow as part of our Bullying Awareness and Prevention week.

For the most part, we have been blessed with wonderful weather, but we have already had the first snowfall. Students are required to have both indoor and outdoor shoes, and to ensure that they are suitably dressed for the weather each day.

Please ensure that we have updated contact details (phone numbers and email). If you have changed your phone number or have not given us your email address, please contact the office or email lisa.pachereva@wcdsb.ca

A Few Reminders

As we hear that Waterloo Region may be heading into the red zone for COVID-19, we have a few reminders about safety protocols.

  • Students should come to school every day wearing a face mask, and should have at least one clean one in their backpacks.
  • All students should have a refillable water bottle.
  • When dropping students off late please leave your child at the front door. We will issue the late slips and ensure that they get to class safely.
  • Please remember to use the COVID screening tool before sending your children to school. https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/context
  • If your child feels unwell, please don’t send him/her to school.
  • Please ensure that you are available to pick your child up if he/she feels ill at school, or arrange for someone to collect them.
  • Please check that we have current, updated contact details (phone numbers, email addresses) so that we can contact you quickly if necessary.
  • We ask all parents dropping off or picking up children to wear a mask while on school property, indoors and outdoors.

We appreciate your help and cooperation in keeping our community safe.

Progress Reports and Interviews

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We are approaching the end of our first reporting period and Progress Reports will be sent home on November 20th.  Parent/teacher conferences will take place from November 24th – 26th virtually.  Teachers will be reaching out to you via email or letter with their availability.  Times will vary by teacher and you are asked to respond to the classroom teacher with your preferred time. If you have an updated telephone number, please provide that as well.  Confirmation of the date/time will be included in the Report Card Envelope going home on Nov. 20th.

If for some reason you do not get the email/correspondence by Nov. 13th, please contact the school.

Let’s Stay in Touch – We Need Your Email Addresses!

Dear Eagles families

From time to time we send out messages using the School Messenger app. This is not the same as Newswire. Newswire sends out a public message which is displayed on our website, and if you have signed up for it, you receive a notification. The School Messenger app sends a message privately, directly to your email address. In order to receive these emails we need to have your email addresses in our data system. If you have not informed the school of your email address via the emergency forms that you completed at the start of the school year, please contact the school office. You can email lisa.pachereva@wcdsb.ca

Thank you for helping us to stay in touch.

Dear parents,

Please ensure that we have an up-to-date email in our school database so you can receive any of the direct messages that we send out from time to time via the schoolmessenger app.

If you have not provided us with a current email address, please email the school office, letting us know your child’s name, so we can update our records.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping us connected.
