No Dogs on School Grounds

This is yet another reminder that dogs are not permitted on school grounds. Please remind other adults who may accompany your children (babysitters, grandparents, etc.) that they may not bring their dogs onto school property while dropping off or picking up your  children.

There are children and adults with allergies or fears of dogs. We also do not want to have to deal with dog mess. In addition to this, it is very unfair on the animals to be subjected to excited children who may want to pet them.

However friendly your dog may be, and whatever the size of animal, please abide by these regulations which are designed to keep everyone safe.

A Few Reminders

As the weather warms up, here are a few reminders to keep all of our community safe:

Bikes and Scooters

We encourage our students to be active, and we are always glad when they walk, or ride a bike or scooter to school. However, please remember students must not ride their bikes or scooters on school property, either before or after school. They must dismount and take their bike or scooter to the racks to secure it.

No Dogs on School Property

It is a wonderful idea to take your pet for a walk when dropping off or collecting your children. However, no dogs are permitted on school property at any time. Some students have allergies or phobias, and it may be difficult to control a pet when there are many excited students entering or leaving school property. We do not want any students bitten, and we do not want dog mess on our property. This also includes the Kindergarten enclosure, and daycare or extended day.

Please Wear a Mask

The warm weather and the promise of vaccination give us hope of better days, but we are not out of danger yet. Please ensure that you wear your mask while on school property, and try to maintain a safe distance from others.

Parking

Please ensure that when you park on the road you are not blocking driveways or impeding buses from turning. Parents and caregivers are reminded not to drive onto school property to drop off or collect their children. This blocks access for the buses and poses a danger to pedestrians.

Activity Week at St. Elizabeth

We started our week of special activities today, with Dress to Impress. Our spirit themes are:

Monday               Dress to Impress

Tuesday               Twin (or triplet) Day

Wednesday         St. Patrick’s Day

Thursday             Throwback Thursday (dress from the 1980s)

Friday                  Beach Day

Our Grade 1 class will be working on their Duplo Steampark activity all this week. They are beyond excited! Our Grade 1/2 class has begun their Rube Goldberg machines. A group of classes will be making their bird feeders. We intend to have fun here this week!

School COVID-19 Case

School COVID-19 Case

Information for Parents/Guardians

A case of COVID-19 has been identified at St. Elizabeth School. St. Elizabeth School is working with Region of Waterloo Public Health to prevent further spread of COVID-19 in students, staff and the community.

What does this mean for students at the school?

  • Public Health will work with the school to identify high-risk student and staff contacts of the confirmed case.
  • Students who have been identified as high-risk contacts of a confirmed case will be sent a high-risk contact letter by the school with information on dates of exposure, testing information, and the cohort end of isolation date.
  • Public Health/Ministry of Ontario will contact the student via text and phone, to reinforce specific directions related to the need for the student to self-isolate and get tested
  • Students who have been identified as low-risk contacts of a confirmed case will not be contacted and are not required to self-isolate. The school will provide general information for these students and families.
  • In the event a cohort must self-isolate or the school must close, you will be notified by the school. The school will keep you informed about any plans regarding return to school.
    • The term cohort includes students and staff in the same class, students involved in group activities or who have been in shared spaces during school, students that ride the same bus, attend before/after school care, or participate in extracurricular programming together.
  • Continue to monitor and screen your child for symptoms of COVID-19 daily.

What is COVID-19?

·         COVID-19 is a new strain of coronavirus that has not previously been identified in humans

  • COVID-19 symptoms include, but are not limited to fever, cough, trouble breathing, sore throat or nasal congestion. A list of symptoms, including atypical signs and symptoms, can be also be found in the ‘COVID-19 Reference Document for Symptoms’ on the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 website
  • People may be able to pass COVID-19 to others from 48 hours before symptoms begin to 10 days after the start of symptoms

Additional COVID-19 resources can be found on Region of Waterloo Public Health’s COVID-19 webpage at http://www.regionofwaterloo.ca/COVID19.
