Dear Eagles Families,
As you begin the first week on teacher-led online learning, please understand that this is not “business as usual” and that we recognize the challenges posed by siblings sharing devices and the fact that many parents are also working from home at this time. Please understand that the learning can take place at times which fit in with your family’s routine, and that not all of the work is to be completed while on-line. We have been striving to get a Chromebook out to any family where students do not have access to a device.
The Ministry of Education has set out the following expectations for the number of hours of work per Grade:
JK-Grade 6 One hour per day (5 hours per week)
Grades 7-8 Two hours per day (10 hours per week)
FSL and Planning Time teachers are offering optional extra activities .
Teachers are using Google Classroom and D2L to post work for students. There are supplementary activities available at https://wcdsblearnathome.wcdsb.ca which also has a parent portal for Special Education resources. There is a video on how to access D2L and Google Classroom and a link for a quick start Chromebook guide at https://wcdsblearnathome.wcdsb.ca/tips-for-parents/ You can also email teachers at any time if you have questions or concerns.
Finally, for anyone who missed it, here is the link to a video where staff reach out to our students, whose bright smiles we miss every day: https://youtu.be/5uenehPnbAY
