WE Scare Hunger

Similar to last year, the WE team would like to invite you to participate in the WE Scare Hunger food drive. On October 21st, any students and staff can bring in a decorated pumpkin for display in the atrium.

For the rest of the week, students will be able to vote for their favourite pumpkin using non-perishable food items or cash donations. The WE team will count how many food items and ballots each pumpkin earns and announce the winners on the following Monday. You are allowed to decorate and/or carve your pumpkin; feel free to make it as creative or spooky as you’d like. Categories include: scariest, funniest, weirdest,  wild card (character, school spirit) and the most creative pumpkins. Ribbons, treats and bragging rights are on the line! Let’s SCARE HUNGER!

Pumpkins

Students, you can decorate a pumpkin at home with your family or your friends. Before you begin, make sure to get permission from a parent or guardian. Bring in your decorated pumpkin on Monday, October 21st. Let your creativity shine through, by carving, painting, decorating or bedazzling a pumpkin!

Voting

In order to vote, students have to bring in a non-perishable food item or make a one dollar cash donation.  For every food item or $1 donation, you will get one vote. Simply put the food into the box with the label that matches your favourite pumpkin. If you bring in 10 items or $10, you will have an opportunity to vote 10 items. Once you vote, and put your item in a box, it cannot be moved. Any students who are making cash donations are asked to meet in the atrium at First Recess to submit their cash donation and to receive ballots to vote for their favourite pumpkin.

Judging

If you plan to bring in a pumpkin, be aware that we will look for the most votes in several categories. You can choose a category for the pumpkin you bring in. Categories include: scariest, funniest, weirdest,  wild card (character, school spirit) and the most creative pumpkins. The pumpkins that have the most ballots and food items votes in each category will be given a ribbon and treats at the end of the week.
